This project was submitted to the Home 2122 design competition, organized by Archiol. This project mainly focused on the possibilities of residential architecture in the future and to test the skill of imagination in architecture.

Neighborhood

As more people continue living in houses located within the ocean, additional community stations will be built up as places for replenishment and entertainment. The community is an artificial island that extends deep into the ocean. The community is welcoming to all and offers a public square and greenspace on top, while below sea level offers entertainment, supplies, food, and anything else one needs or wants. It also contains production and agricultural facilities operated by AI. The community uses hydropower to generate power and uses biomimicry as one of its design factors. In addition, it has an extensive water filtration system on the bottom that is designed based on a baleen whale’s teeth to help in the filtering process of the ocean water to be used as a clean water supply.

Floating House

Bon Voyage is a four-story floating home enclosed in a glass sphere that doubles as solar panels, adjusting opacity and color to regulate light and temperature. Its design blends open, social spaces like the kitchen and deck with private underwater bedrooms, workspaces, and storage areas. Each level serves a distinct purpose—from stargazing in the control room to gardening outdoors—while preserving the comforts of a traditional home on water.

Results

This house is designed to work as a form of transportation and accommodation. It can also freely traverse the ocean, with pitstop communities spread out. The people will live more of a nomadic lifestyle. Technology allows them to connect with people from all over the world, work from home, travel to wherever they want, and immerse themselves in the world’s cultures, traditions, and new experiences to gain. The idea will create a free lifestyle and allow you to bring your home wherever you want.
